The "do it yourself trick"
The Trick:
You are holding a coffe cup sitting on its saucer in your hand. With your other hand, you take a napkin from the table and cover the cup with it. After you take the saucer from under the napkin, you lift the napkin from one edge and quickly remove it - the cup dissappeared!
The requisites:
A coffee cup glued to a saucer, and a napkin with a disc of corrugated card (of the same size as the cup) glued in the middle. Use corrugated material of the same colour as the napkin.
The preparation:
You put the prepared cup and next to it the folded, prepared napkin on the table..
The presentation:
Take the cup with your left hand. Hold the saucer between the thumb and forefinger of your left hand. Nobody must notice that the cup is glued to the saucer.
Now you hold the napkin by one edge and cover the cup, so that the corrugated carton is directly sitting on the cup. You should practise this a couple of times, so that nobody sees that there is a "fake cup" within the napkin.
You now tell the audience that you will try to make the cup dissapear. Then you take the saucer from under the napkin. Pay attention that nobody sees that you are not only removing the saucer, but also the glued cup at the same time. To do so, hold the saucer in a way that the cup points toward your body, and therefore is invisible to the audience. The other hand is holding the napkin to simulate that there is still a cup underneath. Put the saucer somewhere, where it is well hidden and quickly remove the napkin - indeed, the cup has disappeared.
Good luck and success with performing.
